Project Update: Bringing an 80s Kitchen to Today
Raise your hand if you think hiring a designer means spending a lot of money. I bet a lot of you are raising your hands right now. This kitchen is proof that with the right design plan you can completely update a kitchen straight out of the 80s and make it current without breaking the bank. Here's the horrible before photo complete with bunny wallpaper border:And here it is now: Adding a 12" 3 part crown molding and paneling on the peninsula makes these dated builder's grade cabinets feel completely custom.Bead board, stainless steel, rope, and weatherd wood add to the modern country feel of the space. A chunky jute rug anchors the dining area and brings texture into a space filled with hard surfaces. Using a designer can mean more up front costs but in the end the right design plan can save thousands of dollars. Kitchen updates usually cost thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. Our design plan made this transformation possible with just a few hundred dollars. This project was featured in "Room Recipes" by Tonya Olsen.
