Playing With Color

Not everyone loves color, but there is something to be said about how a room full of fun and playful color makes you feel.  You can't help but smile upon entering this family room we recently completed in Kaysville. full room shot

The color scheme is unique and fun.  The playful mixture of orange and pink is offset with the apple green and blue.  Color is kept mostly in pillows and accents to make the room easily changed just by playing with a bunch of fabrics....again.  That really was the fun part in this room.  We loved working with the client to find just the right balance for what she wanted.  It's a livable, comfortable room without being over the top and overly trendy.  And can you even tell this is a basement?!  It's so bright and colorful that it feels like the sun is pouring in.

One of our favorite elements in the room is the DIY console table  made to double as a bar.  The pop of orange barstools bring color to the back of the room.

The focal wall is offset slightly with a soft and neutral accent color just to bring in a little depth to the room. Adding the finish work creates just enough detail to keep it interesting.   An accent wall makes much more sense when there is a nice detail to accentuate.

To keep the budget  in check we kept the artwork simple and went with a cleaner look (it balances out all the color to not have so much on the walls).  We did this cute DIY project with fabric circles to bring color and texture to another area in the basement.

And don't you just love the penny round backsplash from Ann Sacks we did in the kitchenette.

Here's a few most snapshots of cute details of the room.

Do you love color or a more muted scheme?  Either way, I think you'll agree that this is an inviting family room bound to attract kid's friends (for those mom's who want the kids to play at their house to keep an eye on them!).

LIV for fun.
