Ways to Create a Glorious Springtime Home

Interior Design Tips to Transition from Winter to Spring

It’s that time of year – time to put a spring in your step and springtime in your home decorating. In addition to moving your best-loved armchairs away from the fireplace and closer to the French doors, we have three super simple ways for you to transition each room in your home, ensuring you’re ready for this blissful, rejuvenating season.

BRING OUT THE BLOOMS

Spring ushers in fresh blossoms outdoors, so adding floral inside is the best way to freshen your living space.  Here are some of the most-loved rooms we've created at Liv, using our preferred blossoms to bring the rooms to life.

We love fresh when you can get them - like these tulips from Trader Joe’s.

We have a slight obsession with white and pink (soft or bright) floral — the soft crinkled petals of a peony, the flowering branches of a cherry tree, or the ample blossoms of a Snowball Hydrangea— each adds freshness and brightness to any space. Of course lots of other colors work for spring too.

These pink flowering branches of a cherry tree work perfectly with the geometric silver vase.

Too busy to pick up fresh floral each week? An artificial arrangement can be just as satisfying to the soul. The key is adding life to your interior spaces.

A fiddle leaf fig tree – the current must-have house plant, is a great addition too.

ADD MORE STORAGE

The annual ritual of Spring Cleaning is upon us! With warmer weather, we’re all ready to spend less time curled up with a book, and more time outside, so it’s important to dust out the cobwebs and organize. Incorporate storage pieces (from trays and baskets to boxes and furniture) that do double duty of looking good and creating that "place for everything".

Here are some of the ways we use storage in our designs at Liv:

Trays provide a finishing touch as well as a space for organizing.

Baskets offer texture and visual appeal, all while hiding stuff away - think extra blankets and pillows or toy storage. Consider baskets with handles if movable storage is important to you.

Boxes are great for storing all the small things around the house. They can be used to contain special items to display – the key is to select the box based on the purpose: function is more important for storage, while aesthetics is more important when you have items you wish to display.

BRIGHTEN WITH ACCENTS

Store away the heavy-weight winter throws and accent pillows. Lighter-weight fabrics, bright colors, and cheerful patterns bring spaces to life – as shown in these images from some of our clients’ homes.

Liv your season, every day.
