Inspiring Design Styles that Invoke Springtime

Favorite Looks for Spring

There is something to be said for design that brightens the mood and elevates the soul. Spring is the season for decorating to increase the joyful anticipation of summer and bring your house back to life after what can feel like a long gloomy winter. Whether you’re ready for a complete renovation, to rethink paint colors, or to simply add an accent here and there, you’ll find inspiration in our four favorite looks for spring:

1) Fresh + Colorful- This look combines higher-contrast color, bright tones, and fun. Colors are deep and saturated. We love mixing brighter tones with charcoals and navy backgrounds.  The trick to bring this look to life is to mix light greys, creams, and lots of white and light pastels to make the colors really pop.

One of our favorite designers, Caitlyn Wilson, masterfully mixed a variety of bright tones to create this fresh and colorful look. The key here is the white background.

Studio Mcgee used their favorite color palettes (which includes lots of white) and created pops of fresh color. The Navy and Grey are a perfect background for the fresher tones of springy pink.

2) Muted Color- To make a muted palette feel more like spring, choose lighter background colors; organic and subdued. This soothing look provides a lower contrast than the fresh + colorful scheme, but still gives a room soulful energy. Tones are spring fresh, just softened and not as intense.

The Liv Team designed this darling sitting room of the kitchen in a North Salt Lake home using softer tones to delight, without being overly bright. The softer tones are spring-like but not over the top.

3) Organic Textures- Organic textures work in every season, of course. Make this look bright and fresh by adding in more linen and cotton textures (taking out wool and fur), and including more whites, creams, and light greys in the palette.

In this Liv project (another in North Salt Lake!) we kept the color palette to neutral. The high contrast textures are still fresh, minus obvious color.

4) Boho Chic- While you can technically get this look in all of the other three styles, we thought it deserved a category of its own. This bohemian style is a great way to add a fresh, fun look for spring. Add in a few colorful or lighter-toned bohemian pillows and your space instantly feels like it's prepped for sunny, California-style weather.
